Lip Trip workshop.

This week we learnt how to create the perfect lip. We learnt tips and techniques to make the lip fuller and to create an ombre lip.
There are three rules you should go by while creating lip and eye looks.
The three C's:

  • Curve- The shape of the lip.
  • Colour- The skin tone, is it warm or cool.
  • Control- (lip and eye) Ways in which you can show off you skills you have learnt. (using liner etc.)
  • Make sure lip is prepared, exfoliated, and a balm has been put on, as if lips are dry the lipstick and liner wont sit right.
  • Using lip liner, you should make sure its 1-2 shades darker than skin colour. And line the edges of lips, starting from the inside top corner using small strokes with pencil going back and forth to really get a defined colour on the lip line. Don't keep taking pencil off of lip. Then apply to cupids bow. Then continue with centre of bottom lip untill about 3/4 of the way along. Put pencil more on a slant and fill in corners of bottom lip. Make sure you join the top and bottom.
  • Use colour to highlight the centre.
  • To get a really matte lip place tissue over lips and pat on translucent powder over the top with brush.
  • To create a more fuller looking lip and gloss to cupids bow and centre of the bottom lip.
  • To create an ombre look, just apply a lip colour to the centre of the lip and and use a liner in corners (optional.) Apply foundation underneath so there is a base.
Examples of this by Lara.

I then experimented using these techniques:

The ombre look didn't come out how i would have liked. It has made me think of different ideas though for my final face charts. Not just covering the whole lip, maybe just using a section. As we were only working on the lips today, we also only applied the white foundation to that section too. Which has made me think about using sections of white maybe just around the eyes (if that is my main focus) or the lip rather than cover my whole face for my final designs.
