My partners practice of my design.

Today Millie practiced my final design for my look.  We will meet again and practice the look before her timed assessment. I was pleased with how the practice went. However i have extremely dry skin, and the foundation was going very patchy and the dry patches were coming through very clearly making the foundation look really uneven. Even though it was applied correctly. I am going to exfoliate my skin well and then when Millie and I meet up to practice, we are going to try again with the Illamasqua white foundation but adding primer into it too. And we will also experiment with other white colours like our screen face supra colour white too see if that sits better on my skin.
Here our the results:

I am pleased with the result today. I feel like it works well together. However i feel the edges of the brows and line under the eye needs to be blended slightly more but we will practice again to get the look perfect.

Evaluation of my final timed assessment.

Overall i feel my final outcome of my partner Millie's design came out really well. I feel that i took her direction of how to create the look all on board and did the best i could in creating this during the hour and a half that we had. At first when Millie showed me her design, i was worried that it wasn't going to be achievable. There were lots of different components, e.g. head band, the french plait at the back, props in the sides etc. However Millie was excellent at explaining at how the look would be done, step by step, and was very precise at how she envisaged it too look. After talking through will Millie i felt a lot more confident that i would be able to create it. As she would make the head band and by a clip in fringe for the front section. At first i was worried mainly about the french plait that would go in a circle at the back, having only just learnt it at uni in previous weeks, but with lots of practice and practice on Millie i was really happy with the outcome in the final assessment. The overall look i was really pleased with and i feel Millie was happy with the outcome too. She communicated her ideas really well to me, and i feel this is a main aspect as to why the look came out just as she planned. I was pleased with the make up application, the wool on the brows went particularly well and i had a nice even coverage on the base. However i still feel i could have gone heavier with the blush so it showed in the photographs more. My time management during the assessment was good, i finished the look 15 minutes early which gave me time to go over things and make sure everything was exactly right. To conclude i was really pleased on a whole with the assessment, managing to create well even the things i was concerned about. I am glad my practical skills were pushed as it has made me a lot more confident now.

Practices for Final assessment.

My partner Millie and I met up to practice her design. I was worried about the eyebrows having wool all along and not being able to achieve this in the time limit given. After this practice though i felt a lot more confident and that it was definitely achievable.

Reflection of partners design.

This week i was asked to time myself whilst creating my partners look. Here are some photographs:

I feel my first practice of this look went well. I followed my partner’s instructions well. My timing was over though.  I struggled in getting the purple lines the same shade, size and shape, and feel this is something I will be practising before my timed assessments. Also looking back at the photos I definitely think everything needs to be heavier to show up on photographs more. As the lips were much darker than what they are showing. Same with the cheeks and contour, which you can hardly see in the photos. So for my assessments I will make sure everything is a bit more extreme. I like the base and feel I got a good even coverage. I was asked for it not too be too thick and feel I did this correct. I am worried that if my partner decides to add string or wool to the eyebrows how much time I will have to do this, but I will make sure we meet and practice this and make sure I can complete it within the time. Also after looking back I need to make sure I get right down to the root on the lashes with the white. I feel this is a good contemporary design of a traditional Elizabethan look as it has aspects of Elizabethan, e.g. white pale skin, and is showing it in other ways like symbolism though colour choices.
So for my final timed assessments I will make sure to keep practising this look on myself and timing it and then practise on my partner too. I defiantly felt added pressure due to the time limit that was there and felt myself rushing almost and must remember not to do this on the day, just to get on with the look calmly.

Make up practical week 8.

Make up practical week 8.

This week we were practising for our timed assessments next week where we have to create the look our partner has designed.

For my look, the base was white; a contour from ear to lip in Illamasqua’s disobey. Then a slight pink blush. The eyes have the same contour shade, going slightly down the sides of nose and across the crease of the lid. Then a line of purple following the line of the brow underneath it. The eyebrows and eyelashes and white. The eyebrows are also made bushy. The lips are a purple colour but darker in the middle. My partner is also thinking about adding string the eyebrows to tie in with her hair look.

Here is the result:

Equipment:
Full make up kit.

This week were asked to make a contemporary Elizabethan Make up look.

This is the look I created. Overall I like the look and I think the colours work well together. I feel like now I could have gone a bit more extreme with it. As from the photographs you cant tell, but I added brown to the corners of the lips. I should have done them a lot more heavy as you cant even tell from the photographs. I would also make the eyes heavier too.
